Are you ready to jumpstart your horse’s wellness program?

This two week intensive is a whole horse approach to restoring balance and setting the foundation for soundness and longevity. Complementing bodywork techniques are coupled with in hand functional movement exercises to bring the body back into alignment. The goal is to identify and begin to release areas of restrictions so the horses can enjoy full range of motion.

Pain and discomfort can lead to tension and brace which can lead to hypervigilance, reactivity and behavioral issues. This intensive will help guide the horses back toward balance, both physically and mentally, so they can move with rhythm, relaxation and engaged postural muscles. We will also dive into how hoof care, diet, dentistry, living environment and tack influence their overall wellness.

Here’s what’s included:

Bodywork

  • Chiropractic

  • Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST)

  • Nerve Release, Massage, and Fascia Release

Functional Movement

Five in-hand sessions focusing on:

  • Isolating muscle groups

  • Developing correct posture

  • Encouraging rhythm and relaxation in movement

Assessment and Homework

  • An in-hand lesson

  • Before/after pictures

  • Written Assessment

  • Homework and list of resources for continued support

Results from previous Intensives…

Positive changes can be seen in a short amount of time by removing areas of restriction and activating core musculature to give the horses access to their thoracic sling. Their body begins to soften, they are more comfortable standing square, and their back begins to lift.

Here’s what is achievable with long term commitment…

Muscle development and the ability to execute maneuvers with endurance and strength takes longer to achieve. With time, horses build the muscles required to easily carry a rider, develop a more neutral spinal angle, and significantly increase their range of motion.

  • Your horse is struggling with a maneuver and you don’t think it is strictly behavioral

  • You want your horse to be able to use their body correctly and enjoy movement.

  • You believe your horse is an athlete and want to learn more about supporting the body as a whole.

This is for you if:

This is not for you if:

  • You’re only interested in behavior modification

  • You’re looking for immediate results that don’t require you to be an active participant in your horse’s long term wellness journey.

  • You’re not interested in learning more about in-hand work

FAQs

  • It realigns the musculoskeletal system through manual manipulations of the spine and other parts of the body.

  • Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch modality that works with the central nervous system to rebalance the cranial bones and restore the rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid

  • Functional movement takes joints through their full range of motion while engaging stabilizing muscles. They are the basic foundational movements that make up more complex movement patterns. In order for horses to perform maneuvers well, they need to be proficient in the base components that make up that movement.

  • By isolating muscle groups that will allow the horse to work in a biomechanically correct posture and cultivating rhythm and relaxation.

  • It brings the body back into alignment by identifying and beginning to release restrictions. It increases body awareness, proprioception (knowing where the body is in space and time) and range of motion.

  • Every horse will benefit but results will vary depending on the level of dysfunction and compensatory patterns they are currently dealing with. Horses should have ground manners and be comfortable having their feet handled.

  • Due to the short timeframe (two weeks), please bring the feed and supplements your horse is currently on to last for the duration. We will be discussing diet and possibly recommending changes on a case by case basis at pick up. Please also bring three square bales of hay. Hay is available to purchase locally for $14 per bale.

  • We will review the results from the bodywork and go through the in hand exercises. I will provide a customized plan for continuing the progress once home. We can go over any other questions that may come up. Please plan to spend about 2 hours.

  • This intensive is meant to focus on bodywork and in hand work however if your horse is already going under saddle, we can discuss how to apply the same principles of relaxation and rhythm to ridden work.
